PONDA: Keeping in mind the need of Ponda city, Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has restructured its golden jubilee project plan.
According to information, the proposed plan will have shops and lobby on the ground floor, town hall on the first floor, municipal library on the second floor, food court and utilities on the third floor and mini-theatres on the fourth and fifth floor, whereas the former plan had ground plus three-storey building and housed only shops and offices.
“It will be the signature project and we have made modifications in the plan keeping in mind the need of the city. The building will have facilities like food court and utilities, two mini-theatres, municipal library and town hall,” informed PMC Chairperson Dr Radhika Nayak.
“There were only shops and offices in the earlier plan, but we don’t want just that. There is a qualitative difference between this council and the last. We are focusing on what the town needs,” said Dr Nayak, who was in the opposition during the last council.
Sources said the cost would escalate the amount of Rs 2 crore sanctioned and PMC would request the government for additional funds.
“We are targeting to complete the project by December 2014,” informed Dr Nayak.
