VASCO: Aggrieved with the closer of road median at Vales junction as well as temporary openings of road median at Zuari gate on NH17 B road, the locals from Alto-Dabolim along with Chicalim Panchayat Deputy Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav and concerned ward Panch member met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in Panjim on Friday demanding his intervention to resolve the issue.
It may be recalled that upset with the closer of both, Vales as well as Zuari gate openings on NH17 B road, the Alto-Dabolim locals on Thursday evening gathered at the Vales junction and held a protest demonstration over the closer of new temporary opening of road divider at Zuari gate.
Since the issue of new temporary openings on road has become a bone of contention between Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha and Dabolim MLA and Minister Mauvin Godinho, and as their MLA is out of town, Alto Dabolim locals decided to seek intervention of Parrikar so that some relief could be provided to them and one of these openings can used again for the convenience of locals.
“As requested by the locals, today I along with the locals and ward Panch member met Parrikar in Panjim and briefed him about the whole issue and hardships faced by the locals due to the closer of both the openings of road median on NH17 B road. Since the issue was related to NHAI, Parrikar after giving patient hearing informed us that he would call for a joint meeting with NHAI project director on Monday and after discussion with NHAI any decision would on the issue considering all aspects would be taken,”  Kamala Prasad told Herald.
