After filing his complaint, Amonkar said that the company’s failure to take all precautions caused power outages for nearly 22 hours and restricted water supply to people for two days. The F L Gomes Road, Vasco also caved in due to the negligence of the contractor.

Amonkar said that the IOAGPL was a ghost that operated late at night and nobody could trace their officials to date despite causing several inconveniences to the citizens and causing losses to the State exchequer. He further said he will keep his volunteers at night to stop excavation work at night if the police fails to act against them.

“IOAGPL is yet another company linked to the Adani Group and this company is a curse to the Mormugao taluka. These companies are creating pollution on one side and are also damaging government property and causing inconvenience and losses to the people on the other side. This ghost that haunts our taluka is usually operating at night and causing problems and to date, no one has been able to get this ghost under control and stop it from haunting our taluka,” he said.

Amonkar alleged that the company had no valid permission for excavation/digging as it has expired on May 15 and demanded police register a case and arrest the contractor and the company officials and to make public the credentials and certification/ permission and approvals.

Amonkar also requested Vasco MLA Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar to file a police complaint against the IOAGPL officials. The Electricity Department had filed a police complaint against the IOAGPL for damaging underground cables but in vain.
