MARGAO: Alleging that the sitting Margao MLA Digambar Kamat is solely responsible for keeping the constituency behind in overall development, Margao Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Mahesh Amonkar on Monday appealed to the people to vote for the change.
Addressing a press conference along with former councillor Johnson Fernandes and others he also said that TMC is here to bring change and this commercial town will see the new dawn if elected.
“The garbage issue of Margao is still unresolved. This Margao city has been listed amongst the one of the most unclean cities of the country. The sitting MLA has done nothing towards keeping the town clean for the last several years,” he alleged.
He also held him responsible for the corruption in Margao Municipal Council.
“The sitting MLA witnessed keeping everything under his control which had led the municipality to corrupt practices. Margao is lacking in all fronts as compared to Fatorda, despite being a commercial town of Goa,” said Amonkar.
He said the time has come to bring change in Margao, as there is close relations between the sitting MLA and BJP in Margao.
Amonkar further listed three reasons for Margao’s pathetic situation. He said, “Pending works like the Sonsodo garbage issue, corrupt officials who are being protected by Digambar and inefficient councillors including the chairperson are the three reasons why this area has not seen any progress.”
