…And Hospicio staff use stretchers to carry pavers

MARGAO: Hospicio staff was caught on the wrong foot after they were found carrying pavers from the site of the collapsed wall on stretchers.

In fact, the stretchers came in handy for the staffers to carry the pavers in the absence of any equipment to carry out the job. Saturday morning saw a number of hospital staff put on the job to salvage the pavers from the site so that they are put to use again. However, what came as a shock and surprise to many a citizen that the hospital used stretchers to carry the pavers. Caught on the wrong foot, the staffers sought to defend their action by saying the stretchers are not used to carry patients.
When contacted, Hospicio Medical superintendent, Dr Siona Gomes said the staff were engaged to salvage the pavers which partially damaged in the wall collapse. “I will check up with the staff concerned whether they had used the stretchers to carry the pavers,” she said.
