For the fourth time now,
the villagers of Chivar, Anjuna have come together to oppose the forceful
installation of a mobile tower by Indus Towers Limited, on the premises of a primary school. Indus Towers Assistant manager Swapnil Jaiswal claims that the
company has been granted permission by the PWD dept. However, locals state that
permission from the panchayat is essential. With four towers in the vicinity, villagers say there is no need for another tower. Villagers have requested the
government to intervene and prevent the installation of the tower
Locals were infuriated as
the company did not take villagers into consideration. Locals say, even if the
panchayat grants permission to install the tower, they will still object to it.
In April, officials from Indus Towers Limited called for police protection.
This time the officials came along with bouncers for protection.
