MAPUSA: South Africa national, who was wanted in connection with a molestation case, was nabbed from Mumbai by Anjuna Police. The accused was absconding for the last two years.
The incident had occurred on March 8, 2021 when a woman from Thane Maharashtra lodged a complaint against Victor Van Niekerk and then residing at Green Space Hostel, Vagator for criminally trespassing and outraging her modesty.
All efforts were made to trace the accused, however he managed to evade arrest for two years.
Since the accused person was not traced, the said case was closed for a short period.
However, through reliable sources, police revealed that the accused person was seen moving at Colaba-Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Accordingly a police team of Anjuna Police consisting of Police Sub-Inspector Tukaram Pednekar, PC Deepesh Chodankar, Aniket Pednekar were immediately sent to Colaba, Mumbai, to trace the accused person. He was subsequently apprehended and after confirming his involvement in the crime he was placed under arrest.
The entire operation was carried under the guidance of SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, Anjuna Police Inspector Prashal Dessai, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police North Nidhin Valsan.
