MARGAO: Three days after the Panjim bus rape, yet another shocking incident was reported at Malbhat, Margao, where a 16-year girl was raped by her stepfather. The girl escaped to Mumbai and narrated her ordeal to the Dadar Police station which lodged an FIR and transferred the case back to Goa.
The accused, 45-year-old, a native of Bihar has been arrested by the Margao Police for raping and threatening the victim with dire consequences. It has shockingly come to light that the brute of a stepfather had been raping her since she was 10.
The police said the accused operates a vada pav shop in Malbhat and resides in a rented room. The victim was also staying in a rented room with her mother, who also runs a vada pav shop.
Margao PSI Vibhawari Gaonkar, who is investigating the case, said that the girl is lodged in a protection home in Mumbai while the accused is in Margao Police custody.
PSI Gaonkar said the police have registered an offence against the accused under Sections 376 (2), (O) 376(2) (N) 376 A B, 506 of the IPC and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 8 (2) of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003.
It may be recalled that a young girl student was raped by the bus driver from Zuarinagar on Sunday night in Panjim while she came to the city for a Christmas party with 13 other friends.
The incident occurred when the accused driver committed the crime while the bus was parked at Patto-Panjim.
