PONDA: The Melauli-Sattari locals fighting against the IIT Project under the banner Melauli Pancakroshi Gram Bachao Andolan (MPGBA) on Tuesday demanded that the Ponda PWD office revoke the tender issued for the construction of compound wall, at Melauli, Sattari.
Shashikant Savordekar along with 50 locals visited the office of the PWD Executive Engineer XVI Building (Central) and submitted a memorandum.
Later, Savordekar speaking to the media persons said, “We visited the Ponda PWD office as we learnt that this office had issued tender for the construction of compound wall for the IIT Project at Melauli and submitted a memorandum to revoke it.
He said, “The Melauli locals are against the IIT Project and earlier on several occasions have stopped the surveyors from various government offices to conduct survey of the land for the project.”
While the concerned engineer was not available, Savordekar said for their next visit at Ponda PWD office, 500 villagers will be present.
