Panjim: The Council of Ministers accorded post facto approval permitting the Directorate of Health Services to appoint additional staff nurses from the wait list maintained by the Directorate of Health Service (DHS), while appointing the initial 30 staff nurses for COVID-19, in view of the present situation regarding treatment facilities at the COVID Care Centres.

The Cabinet note said that considering the prevailing surge in COVID-19 cases across various parts of the State; there is a need for expanding the COVID Hospital beds as well as the COVID Care Centres in Goa.
DHS has therefore proposed to recruit additional manpower viz. staff nurses immediately keeping in view the increasing trend of positive cases in the State.
“DHS has therefore sought approval towards the requirement of additional 30 Staff Nurses for posting at Primary Health Centre, Shiroda and wherever required for COVID-19 duties from the wait list which was maintained while selecting 30 staff nurses,” the note reads.
The matter for their appointment has already been placed before the Cabinet meeting held recently.
Against the above background, the note adds that the Government approved permitting DHS to appoint the staff nurses.
