MARGAO/ CUNCOLIM: The Fatorpa COVID spike showed no signs of abetting as ten more positive cases were detected in the Bamdamol and Ambyamol wards.

The tally of COVID-19 Cases here has reached to 23. One Nurse from Morpilla panchayat area and working at a private hospital also tested positive.
These areas may soon end up becoming micro containment zones as the cases here have shot up by another 10 cases.
Sources from the Health Centre suggest that all the persons who have been found positive today had come in contact with the two women who had first turned positive. Several worried people from Cuncolim today reached the health centre to get themselves tested.
The local administration has inspected the areas and a report has been submitted to the District Administration for appropriate action as per set SOPs.
The contact tracing and swab collection of the areas continued on Wednesday. The Deputy Sarpanch of Fatorpa Sanzil D’Costa said that both the areas are thickly populated and the cases may increase more than expected. He also said that the areas need to be made into containment zones to arrest the spread of the virus and effective collection of swabs.
According to the local administration there are a total of at least 350 people in the areas which have been affected largely. Most of the people are tribals and amongst the affected persons farmers are maximum in numbers. It is told that the farmers had worked in the fields before the cases started being detected. The Mamlatdar Laxmikant Dessai said that he has inspected the areas and sent detailed reports along with photos to the district administration.
Villagers of Fatorpa and surrounding villages have demanded declaring the two coronavirus hit wards of Fatorpa as a micro containment zone. Thirteen positive cases have been detected at Bomdamol in the Fatorpa panchayat area. One COVID-19 case was also detected at Buring Balli. More than 300 residents of the Fatorpa panchayat had tests of COVID-19 done from this area; some results are awaited.
Meanwhile the staff of a Salcete BJP MLA and those who had come in contact with him last week voluntarily got their tests done. The PHC Balli tested more than hundred samples on Wednesday.
