MARGAO: Colva police on a complaint from Krishna Veena Gorti, resident of Kurtarkar Classic, Aquem, Margao on Tuesday registered an offence under section 49 read with 34 of IPC and 4 of the Dowry Protection Act.
Krishna in her complaint has accused her husband Vettanaga Raguendra Ravi Kiran Gorti, in laws Jagurao Gorti and Radha, all resident of Hyderabad of with a common intention, subjected the complainant to cruelty, besides assaulting and abusing her, demanding dowry of Rs 20 lakh. The incident allegedly happened at a hotel in Colva, from October 14 to 17.
She further alleged that the accused Vettanaga, Jagurao and Radha left the complainant alone in the hotel and proceeded to Hyderabad informing complaint to return to Hyderabad only if she arranges RS 20 lakh demanded as dowry. PSI Ritesh N Tari of Colva police station is investigating.
