ARAMBOL: At their gram sabha, the villagers of Arambol panchayat demanded action against shack owners who have encroached on the beach area with their sun-beds, chairs and tables, making it difficult for visitors to move around. Sarpanch Bhikaji Naik assured that an inspection would be conducted immediately, and action taken against the encroachments.
Locals called on the panchayat to warn restaurant and bar owners against playing loud music at night and also to register the Parshuram hillock as a site of religious importance. The issue of an occupancy certificate to a controversial hotel project was also discussed by the members.
