PONDA: The Animal Rescue Squad (ARS) at Ponda condemned the transfer of Range Forest Officer (RFO) Dharajit Naik attached to Ponda Range to Collem.
Incidentally, Naik conducted a raid on the residence of Priol BJP chief Satish Marcaikar after receiving a complaint that he had caged parakeet birds in his house, on June 26.
Alleging his transfer was the fallout of the raid conducted by him, ARS said that it would set “a very bad precedent and deter” range forest officers from acting against politicians, even in genuine cases.
ARS Director Adv Surel Tilve said, “Darajit Naik is a sincere officer and the Animal Rescue Squad had accompanied him in many raids and rescue operations.”
Naik was transferred after three months of taking charge at Ponda. However, government officers are usually transferred once in three years.
