SANGUEM: Following the admission by the accused Jay Ravidas Shirodkar of having killed his 80-year-old uncle Shantaram Shirodkar over property dispute and subsequently setting his body on fire, the Sanguem police at the instance of the accused recovered the plastic gallon used by the accused person to carry diesel and the wooden stick used in assaulting the deceased before his death.
Both the gallon and the wooden stick are attached by the police after conducting the attachment panchanama in the presence of witnesses.
It may be recalled that the accused Jay Shirodkar had admitted to committing the crime after his six-year-old son spilled the beans of having seen his father attacking the deceased on the fateful day. The accused Jay Shirodkar also reportedly told the police of having committed the offence all alone and that no other person was involved in the act.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have urged the police to seek maximum punishment for the accused. The family members have also urged the police not to solely go into the statement given by Jay of having committed the heinous crime all by himself. This he could have been done only to protect his other family members involved in the act.
