The Crime Branch on Friday made startling revelation before JMFC on Friday that the arrested police inspector Ashish Shirodkar and one PSI had access to the key of the godown where drugs awaiting disposal were kept. The Crime Branch in its ‘Say’ filed before JMFC Sharmila Patil on Friday, demanding police custody of four suspended cops, has stated that accused PI Ashish Shirodkar had access to the key of the godown which is situated next to the ANC Police Station.
Shirodkar was in-charge of the police station for a period between 2007 and 2009 while other accused were also attached to the same police station.
The Crime Branch will now interrogate suspended cops to recover the narcotics drugs that were allegedly sold in the market and also to know the source of drugs sold as also allegations made in the CD that the drugs submitted to the Narcotics Court were brought back in the market and given to the suspected drug dealers.
The offence allegedly committed by the six suspended cops is of serious in nature, said Crime branch in its `Say’.
The Police Inspector Ashish Shirodkar, and constables Shashish Pokle, Hussain Shaik and Sandeep Parab have been remanded to seven days police custody.
The CB has also expressed the possibility of more drugs which have to be recovered from the accused as the drugs from disposed off NDPS cases by NDPS court were returned to Anti-Narcotic Cell – Police Station godown and Punaji Gawas, Police Sub-Inspector was holder of the key to the godown.
It also wants to check the records and conduct verification of muddemal to see if there is any manipulation of stored drugs as use of false seals in preparing parcel seals cannot be ruled out.
The five policemen were arrested by Crime Branch on Thursday for their alleged links with drug dealers. The police constable Ramchandra Canconkar who is attached to Ponda Police Station was remanded to four days police custody on Thursday itself.
