Association sues social media user for abusing taxi operators online

PANJIM:  The Taxi Owners Association on Thursday filed a police complaint at the Porvorim Police station against a social media user, for allegedly using abusive and offensive language against the taxi operators on social media. Taxi drivers from across the State were present. 

They pointed out that they had on Wednesday held a press conference, where they had spoken about the financial hardships they are facing such as repayment of loans, due the prolonged pandemic wherein they had asked the Chief Minister to ask the banks to provide them with some relief. 

They added that the social media user posted comments on this press conference of theirs, which hurt the sentiments of taxi drivers. They rejected any insinuation that they are involved in drug dealing, prostitution or any such nefarious activities. . 

They further said that there were malicious comments against taxi union leader Yogesh  Govekar. 

They also said there are some cab aggregators as well as other people who are out to defame them through similar actions.
