MAPUSA: The main 350 mm Assonora-Guirim water pipeline burst on Wednesday at Karaswada due to ongoing highway expansion work.
Sources informed that Tivim, Colvale jail, Marna-Siolim, Duler, Karaswada and parts of Bastora which are totally dependent on this pipeline, will have to bear the brunt. They stated that the pipeline which burst while carrying out highway expansion at Karaswada was later shut down and the PWD officials along with highway contractor are trying to check the damage.
“The 350 MM line has burst and we have shut down the line and are working on it. The restoration of supply will depend on the damage caused. If it can be repaired, will release water and if it is major then it will take some time,” PWD officials said.
