VASCO/PONDA: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday assured to provide compensation to the people affected due to flooding in various parts of the within a fortnight.
The government machinery is providing relief to the affected people and also assessing the losses suffered by the people on account of flooding.

The Chief Minister pegged the loss due to recent flooding in various parts of Goa at around Rs 500 crore.
He said immediate relief in the form of food and shelter is provided to the affected people. Sawant said he will write to the Centre seeking relief package for the State.
“We are expecting substantial relief from the Centre. I have spoken to Home Minister Amit Shah. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up on Friday to review the situation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister promised to reconstruct the Paikul Bridge on priority. In Sattari around 800 residents of Paikul were cut off from the mainland as the bridge collapsed due to the incessant rains on Thursday.
Chief Minister along with PWD Minister visited the flood-hit areas of Daukond, Dharbandora which was inundated for over 8 hours.
