An incident of attempted assault was reported near the Sai Baba Temple in Sangolda after a 23-year-old local resident was allegedly attacked by two unidentified persons on Thursday.
According to preliminary information, the assailants arrived at the spot on a scooter and chased the victim before attempting to attack him with a wooden stick (dando) and a billhook (koita). The attackers reportedly fled the scene soon after the attempt.

The victim immediately alerted the police, following which personnel from Saligao Police Station rushed to the location and conducted a preliminary inquiry. No arrests have been reported so far.
Police officials said further details are awaited as the investigation is in its early stages and efforts are on to identify and trace the suspects involved in the incident.
