ANJUNA: In a raid on “drug processing laboratory” operating in rented premises on Wednesday night, Anjuna police seized chemicals and drugs worth Rs 1 crore and arrested Austrian national Christian Koller.
During night patrolling, a team headed by PSI Vishwajeet Chodankar found the 35-year-old accused moving suspiciously around 11.45 pm. On the basis of suspicion, the police carried out a personal check on the Austrian in the presence of Anjuna PI, Chetan Patil and Mapusa SDPO Serafin Dias. Following the check, the Austrian was found possessing charas, MDMA, white powder and GBL all worth Rs 3.10 lakh, which was seized.
Upon investigation it was revealed that the accused was operating a lab in rented premises at Anjuna. The police also seized chemicals and drugs worth Rs 1 crore from the lab.
An offence has been registered at Anjuna Police Station by PSI Vidyesh Pilgaonkar under Section 21 (b) (ii) (A) of the NDPS Act.
During the search at the rented premises it was noticed that the accused had started a lab in order to produce Amphetamine and GBL.
During the search a total of 21 bottles of various chemicals, a poison bottle and ½ kg raw amphetamine all worth Rs 1 crore were seized. Two induction cookers, a refrigerator and jars, which were found in the lab, have been attached during the panchanama.
It is learnt that the accused was earlier arrested by the Austrian Police in a drug case in 2008.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SP North, Utkrisht Prasoon and SDPO Mapusa.
