The complex houses the offices of the deputy collector and Canacona mamlatdar.
Forum for Senior Citizen of Canacona General Secretary R S Naik (ex-principal of Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya), Shantaji Naik Gaonkar (ex-headmaster of Katiyani Baneshwar HS), besides a few others joined De Sa briefly to express solidarity.
While De Sa kept sitting near the entrance of the government office complex, no government officer even came near him or sought to question De Sa over his decision to sit on a dharna. A few other politically active persons reportedly watched De Sa from a distance but did not go close to him.
It may be recalled that De Sa had alleged that his land at Palolem has been usurped by unfair means, by tricking him to sign certain papers. He has also submitted a letter to the deputy collector a few days ago informing him of his intention to sit on a dharma in front of the government office complex to protest against grabbing of his land by unfair means. De Sa speaking on behalf of other senior citizens has also demanded for 50 per cent ticket concessions while travelling in private buses, besides proper facilities at Canacona community health centre and government intervention in atrocities on senior citizens.
