Authorities not interested in curbing drug menace: AAP

PANJIM: Stating that the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has officially stopped plans to allow marijuana plantations in Goa, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday alleged that it is now apparent that he is determined to make Goa a drug haven where people can get whatever narcotics they want at a price.

AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre said, “Over the weekend Goa Police in two separate raids on Saturday and Sunday seized various quantities of drugs. The raid on Saturday at Vagator the following drugs were seized: LSD 35 blots, 35 gms of mephedrone, 5.1 gms of heroin, MDMA tablets, marijuana and hashish. On Sunday during a raid at Arambol, ganja and charas worth Rs 20,000 were seized from a Bangalore native.”

“All this proves that drug trade is going on full swing in Goa and the authorities are not at all interested in curbing it” alleged Mhambre and claimed that the drug trade is going on in Goa with the ruling BJP and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s blessings.

“The police conduct random raids just to hoodwink the people that they are working against the drug trade when in reality they are a party to the entire trade as they get their bribes regularly and whenever a raid is reported one can safely presume that the quoted bribe amount was not paid to the police,” he alleged.

“The chief minister has kept on hold ganja plantations in Goa due to the public outcry. He is doing nothing to stop the trade of narcotics in Goa and probably aspires to revive tourism through the drug trade,” he claimed.
