Automobile dealer agrees for full and final settlement towards rusty two-wheeler

PANJIM: An automobile dealer from Margao agreed for full and final settlement to a customer, who complained that he was given a two-wheeler which had a rusted engine and chassis number shown as registered at the Pernem RTO. 

During the hearing before the Consumer Conciliation Committee on Thursday, M/s Pratik Motors, Margao agreed to pay a cheque of Rs 1,10,464 towards the settlement.

On January 11, 2024,     

Fernandes said that she had purchased the vehicle from the dealer on December 27, 2023 on payment of Rs 92,740. Within a month, the rider found that its engine was oxidised and nuts were rusty. She further checked on the Directorate of Transport website and shocked to know that the chassis number was already registered at the Pernem RTO. She then asked the dealer to replace the vehicle but the sales manager kept on delaying. She then approached the Consumer Conciliation Committee,

The two-member Consumer Conciliation Committee comprising Roland Martins and Amita Nayak Salatry has asked the dealer to communicate the settlement latest by March 21, 2024.
