MARGAO: Reacting sharply to the statements made by National Congress Party (NCP), Navelim MLA Avertano Futado asserted that he has the support of all the sarpanchas from Navelim constituency and is confident of winning the next assembly elections.
In a recent development where NCP announced that 60 people who had had supported Avertano during the last 2012 elections, have joined the pary. Reacting to this, Avertano said that these could be the people who had voted for him, but his support base in Navelim “is still very much intact.”
It maybe recalled that George Barreto who joined the NCP had fallen out with Avertano after the Zilla panhayat seat in Navelim was reserved for OBC and thus preventing him from contesting the recent ZP elections
Avertano was speaking after the launch of road works including hot mixing and strengthening from Gantamorod to Bopitwadddo and from Rawanfond to Mandop.
Rubbishing report of former panchas joining the NCP along with Barreto, Avertano asserted that the panchayat bodies were with him as he has worked for development of all the panchayats in Navelim constituency.
