Oppn alleges govt trying escape route to avoid facing straight questions and getting exposed

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting scheduled on January 25, will decide on the duration of upcoming budget session of the State Assembly in view of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the State on February 6.

When asked whether the brief budget session starting from February 2 will be curtailed or extended in view of the Prime Minister’s visit to the State to attend India Energy Week programme at Betul on February 6, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that it will be decided in the BAC meeting convened on Thursday. “’The issue will be discussed in the BAC meeting,” he added.

The Opposition members have alleged that the government is trying escape route to avoid them from facing straight questions and getting exposed.

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao expressed his concern that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government can take the opportunity of Prime Minister’s visit to the State as an excuse to curtail the six days session of Goa Legislative Assembly.

During his visit to the State, Modi will inaugurate four projects i.e. National Institute of Technology (NIT), Cuncolim, National Institute of Water Sports (NIWS), Dona Paula, new campus of the Naval War College at INS Mandovi, Betim, and an integrated waste management facility at Cacora, Curchorem. He will also lay the foundation stone for PPP ropeway project at Reis Magos Fort, 3D-printed administrative building at Patto, Panjim, and the construction of a 100 MLD water treatment plant at Xelpem, Salaulim.
