BAC to discuss on Budget session today

PANJIM:  The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Goa Legislative Assembly will meet on Monday to discuss and finalise business for the four-day long Budget session, beginning from March 27.

In view of Ram Navami festival scheduled on March 30, the Assembly session, which was initially scheduled for five days, was curtailed to four days. Disappointed over short duration of the Budget session, the Opposition leaders are likely to meet coming week to deliberate and work out a joint floor management strategy to take on the BJP-led State government.

As per the information available from Goa Legislative Assembly, total 803 questions will be tabled during the session of which 207 are starred while 596 are unstarred questions.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will table the State Budget 2023-24, most likely on the very first day of the session that is March 27, and thereafter take Vote on Account. The full-fledged Budget will be passed during the monsoon session, which will be held in July.

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said that the Opposition will work out a joint floor management to take on Sawant-led government. He said that the government has been doing injustice by holding short Assembly sessions.
