MARGAO: The bail application filed by a native of Kerala, Moidunny Kutty before the South Goa District and Sessions Judge Nutan Sardesai was heard on Friday. Public prosecutor Subhash Dessai argued that amount of more than one lakh rupees and weapons of assault are yet to be recovered and that two suspects are absconding and that very serious offences are registered against the applicant. Adv Prasad Naik argued that on the day of the incident, the accused, Kutty was in Kerala and is falsely implicated in the crime. AS per complainant Arun Gopal from Nuvem, on January 23, at 11.30 pm, while he was proceeding to his residence on a motorcycle, along with Mohamad Gadafi, their motorcycle was restrained near Nuvem bypass junction by parking a car in front of their motorcycle.
Kutty and two others assaulted them with choppers and caused grievous injuries and thereafter they forcibly snatched a handbag from Gadafi containing cash of Rs 1,02,65 and fled from the scene. Offences under 307, 394, read with 34 IPC for attempt to murder, robbery and hurt with common intention had been registered.
