VASCO: The move to ‘temporarily’ accommodate Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the indoor sports complex facility at Bhute-Bhat in Baina has evoked strong resentment among locals, who feel deprived of the use of the facility.
According to aggrieved Baina locals, since the last few years, the sports complex facility at Baina is been used by the state administration for providing temporary accommodation for the security forces.
They point out that in 2015, the state administration first used the facility to rehabilitate migrants, who could not make alternative residential arrangements after demolition of their hutments at Baina and since then this facility is been used for everything, except for sports activity.
“This indoor sports complex facility is only recreational facility provided by the State government for the people of Vasco and Baina. We are not against of allotting this facility during any emergency but they cannot use this facility as temporary accommodation. Currently this facility is being used to accommodate CISF personnel who have come down to State for providing security during FIFA U-17 World Cup and now these CISF have converted the wooden badminton court into a kitchen.
