VASCO: One Syed Karim Kadri, a resident of Baina in Vasco, was detained for illegally slaughtering a bull at his residence on Saturday. According to police, acting on specific information, a team of Vasco police inspected the premises and caught Kadri red handed while he was slaughtering bull. “When we reached at the site, the accused person had already slaughtered a bull at his residence. Since such act is not permissible, we have presently detained him and we would also register an offence against him under Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty towards Animals Act, Sections 4, 5 and 8 of the Goa Animal Prevention Act, 1995. We are presently conducting preliminary inquiry into the case and later in the evening we will also arrest the accused person,” PI Nolasco Raposo told Herald. Meanwhile, speaking to reporters Kadri said, “I was performing customs and traditions of Bakra Eid by sacrificing bull. I have not taken any permission for slaughtering as I was not aware of ban on slaughter outside the Goa Meat Complex.”
