PONDA: Accusing the MGP of taking the Bahujan Samaj for a ride, the Jan Jagruti Manch Bandora (JJMB) has challenged the MGP to field its candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
“The MGP, which claims to be the party of the Bahujan Samaj, should field its candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls and candidates from the Bahujan Samaj should be given the party ticket,” said JJMB Convenor Govind Gaude, while addressing a news conference in the town on Friday.
Incidentally, Gaude had lost to MGP’s Deepak Dhavlikar from Priol constituency during the last assembly polls.
According to information, the MGP is yet to declare its stand on supporting its BJP partner,
Gaude, who also happens to be the convener of the United Tribal Associations Alliance (UTAA) said, “The MGP is building its base in the south only to garner support to the probable BJP candidate for the south Goa seat. The MGP is least bothered about the Bahujan Samaj and are only using it (Bahujan Samaj) for its political gains,” alleged Gaude.
Gaude praised the MGP’s founder and former chief minister late Bahusaheb Bandodkar for his tireless work for the betterment of the society. “However, the MGP leaders are now doing exactly the opposite,” claimed Gaude.
The JJMB also condemned the recent attack on Bahujan Samaj leader Vishnu Wagh.
“I don’t see anything wrong when Wagh attended a cultural function organized by a leader from the NCP. There are instances here in Ponda when various BJP leaders have attended functions organized by the MGP,” said Gaude.
