MAPUSA: The renovated and beautified Krantiveer Chowk at Vithalwadi in Mapusa was inaugurated on Thursday, ahead of the Independence Day.
The beautification of the Krantiveer Chowk was funded by the business establishments in the town as a part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The Krantiveer Chowk honours three famous freedom fighters, namely, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru whose images are carved on the memorial.
On the occasion, MMC Chairperson Ryan Braganza called upon the residents and businessmen in the town to come forward and take up CSR activities, to give the town a facelift.
“This task (of beautifying the Krantiveer Chowk) was taken up under CSR. I urge the people of Mapusa to take up small or big works. We need to work united to make Mapusa a better place,” Braganza said.
