Due to genetic disorder, there is possibility for a child to go astray and follow in the faulty footsteps of the guardian. But, besides showering love and affection, if the child is imparted with moral values and principles, they can be a treasure trove to the parents.
In a road accident, thief Joshua (Avilton Fernandes) meets watery grave. His father Juze (Milton Rodrigues) mourns the untimely death of his only son. The government offers Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the accident victims.
But Juze is in a dilemma as he refuses to accept the offer on one hand and on the other the same amount is urgently required for the operation of his wife Maria (Craby Fernandes).
As Clara (Razia D’Souza) and Dominic (Luis Fernandes) appear at the mishap scene and decide to adopt a child, who has lost his parents, Juze cautions them. In a flashback, the tragedy in Juze’s family is brought live on stage.
The issues of abortion and its consequences, adoption and its penalty have been highlighted in this drama. Besides, the basic requirements when adopting and nurturing an orphan form the climax at the concluding scene.
The first half moves at a snail’s pace, inviting boredom, but gradually gains momentum during the second half. Before the curtains come down, the audience has a powerful message to carry home.
As husband and wife, Milton and Craby played convincing roles. As an insane woman, Valentina Monteiro drew instant attention. Though slim and short in stature, Stefny Pedroso was prompt in dialogue delivery. Erasmo Aguiar fitted well in doctor’s shoes.
Reiz D’Souza was apt as hawaldar, but his boss Waghmare (Satyajit Adpaikar) demanded command in his act. Cipriano Alfonso also looked stiff as a villain. But among all, Avilton scored for his dialogues and body language.
Gleno Dias, Ashita Alfonso and Fr Savio D’Costa formed a comical trio, but a little of extra ‘masala’ would have made a big difference.
The stage sets needed attention as the police station carried a forest scene as its backdrop. So also, a black or blue backdrop would suffice for the ashram scene.
In the category of songs, a wholesome was rendered on a slower pace. But those rendered by Keryanne, Princila, Petrison, Fr Carson Dourado and Violet Fernandes, Gleno and Violet, Wayne, Jeevan and Nelson, Frs Savio and Dominic Alvares deserve a mention.
