MAYEM: In a major blow to Congress, the entire Bicholim Block Congress committee resigned en-masse in protest against party’s decision to allot ticket to former BJP MLA Rajesh Patnekar.
Addressing a press conference here, Naresh Sawal stated that the entire block members have tendered their resignations as they felt that the Congress party was not interested about their loyalty for the last many years as the party ticket has been allotted to Patnekar who does not have any dedication towards the party.
The block committee members who have resigned includes Block President Vighnesh Gaonkar, women front President Vidhya Parab, Kundan Fogeri, Audhoot Parab and other block members including their leader Naresh Sawal.
Speaking further, Sawal claimed that the Congress party, which had entirely lost its existence since the last one decade, was rejuvenated by his efforts, due to which he was instrumental in getting about 7,000 votes during the last assembly election.
“Thereafter, I always worked for the cause of the party and under such circumstances allotting ticket to some other person doesn’t signify morality,” stated Sawal.
Speaking about his future curse of action, Sawal stated that BJP is in contact with him for the last few days and the final decision will be taken in a couple of days about contesting on which party. “However, my decision to contest the election is final,” he said.
Sawal accused Patnekar of not contacting the Block after he joined Congress.
