Bicholim: Heavy rainfall continued to disrupt life in Bicholim on Tuesday and though no major incidents were reported here, the emergency control room was on high alert.

Bicholim Mamletdar Laxmikant Kuttikar along with Water Resources Officer Naresh Pokle, Siddarth Shirodkar, Sahadev Mote and the talathi inspected the Chapora river and pumping stations at Bicholim and Sankhali.
“We will monitor the situation for 24 hours but currently there is no risk of flooding. The water has increased by 1.5 meters and the danger level stands at 5 meters,” said Kuttikar.
Meanwhile, there are over 10 mining quarries in Bicholim where rain water gets stored and pumps have been installed at a few places to keep the level in check. Locals residing near these quarries have also been asked to stay alert. MLAs Chandrakant Shetye and Premendra Shet have directed officials to take precautionary measures as the roadsgone underwater.
