BICHOLIM: The residents of Bicholim have demanded for the permanent stationing of traffic police at the Shantadurga High School junction along with the installation of signboards at the area, which can benefit tourist and locals from other parts of Goa.
Shantadurga circle is the busiest spot in Bicholim as there is heavy traffic throughout the day.
Bicholim Traffic Police have already posted its personnel for the smooth flow of traffic during school hours. However, residents feel that traffic police need to be stationed at the circle permanently for smooth flow of the traffic.
“Five roads intersect at this junction and this may lead to accidents. To avoid any such incident, there is a need for a traffic police or a traffic signal on this road,” said Harshal Pawar, president of Bicholim Rotaract.
Recently a statue of Shivaji was installed at the junction and the residents feel that the area near this statue should be beautified.
“It is good that the statue has been installed, but at the same time there is a need to beautify this place. Some illumination near the statue would certainly increase the glory of this statue,” said former councillor Narayan Betkikar.
