PANJIM: The Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has directed the erstwhile lease holders, port authorities and owners of jetties to allow the prospective bidders to carry out the inspection and sample collection of iron ore lots, which have been put up for the e-auction to be held on August 22.
The directions have been issued after the prospective bidders approached the dept seeking permission to inspect and collect samples of the e-auction lots lying at various leasehold areas, jetties, ports and plots. As on date, there are total 13 companies that have registered for bidding during the upcoming e-auction of 5.34 million tonnes of ore.
DMG has identified total 233 stacks consisting of 5.34 million tons of ore. The ore grade varies from 38 Fe content to 65 Fe content and it is lying at various mining sites and beneficiary plants. The e-auction will be conducted through metal scrap trading corporation (MSTC).
Director Mines Ashutosh Apte, through an order, has directed all the previous lease holders, owners of jetties, port authorities and interested parties, where the lots are presently lying, to permit the prospective bidders to carry out the inspection and sample collection as per the e-auction procedure.
“As per the e-auction procedure, the registered bidders shall be permitted to lift maximum 12 samples of not more than 100 grams each as per the location and as per the choice of the registered bidder,” Apte said.
The inspection and collection of samples of ore is allowed for bidders participating in a bid and correctness of the grade will be the responsibility of the bidder.
The 13 prospective bidders are Sesa Sterlite Limited, Bagadiya Brothers Pvt ltd, VM Salgaokar and Bro Pvt Ltd, Agarwal Minerals (Goa), Pvt Ltd, JSW Steel Limited, Kalinga Allies Industries, Blueglobe Exports Pvt Ltd, M/s Faldesai Mines and Minerals International Pvt Ltd, Timblo Pvt Ltd, Timblo Enterprises, Dinar Tarcar Resources Pvt Ltd and Seabird Marine Services. With the e-auction, the iron ore activiy in Goa,which was shut since March 2018, is set to begin.
