Biggest one-day spike of 506 cases on Sunday

Three more succumb to deadly coronavirus

PANJIM: The daily spurt in COVID-19 cases continues to worry Goans as the State recorded highest ever single day spike of 506 cases on Sunday. Three patients, two of whom had co-morbid conditions also succumbed to the virus on a Saturday-Sunday.

The Health Bulletin released by the Health Department mentions 2642 active cases as on date of which 506 positive cases were reported on Sunday. The count of confirmed cases stand at 8712 whereas total recoveries are 5995 and 75 deaths. Total single day recovery on Sunday was recorded at 193. 

The three patients who lost battle to the dreaded virus were aged 50 years from Chorao, 84-year-old female from New Vaddem and 77-year-old from Taleigao. While the first two patients with co-morbid condition were admitted to COVID-19 hospital at Margao, the third patient was admitted at GMC. 

The Vasco health centre continues to lead the tally of active cases with  total 395 cases followed by Cortalim health centre which reported 291 cases, Margao health centre 229 cases and 72 cases at Ponda health centre. The capital city which has been recording increasing cases now has 95 active cases as on Sunday evening. 

Each of ten health centres have cases below 50 whereas each of 15 health centres have recorded less than 100 cases.
