MARGAO: BJP has blasted Fatoda MLA and former deputy chief minister Vijai Sardesai for calling its State President Sadanand Shet Tanawade shameless.
Addressing the press here, BJP chief spokesman Subhash Faldessai said that the political career of Vijai is a proof as to who is shameless.
“The statement of Vijai calling the BJP president shameless is in bad taste. The CAA Bill passed through Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha before becoming a law. This means the Act is enacted properly,” he said.
“If you see his (Vijai) career who is shameless is clearly visible. He became the MLA on anti-BJP sentiment; after election, he chose to become a minister in the BJP-led government along with his two other MLAs,” he pointed out.
“Did you not betray the trust of your people when you went and stood with Shiv Sena recently?” He will see what the people’s verdict is in the upcoming elections,” Faldessai said.
When asked why BJP took Vijai on board to form the government, Faldessai admitted that “Circumstances were such that we did not want the Congress to form government, as would have taken Goa backward.”
“We did not invite Vijai. They came on their own and joined the BJP to form the government,” the BJP spokesperson said.
Accusing Vijai of blackmailing the BJP, Faldessai said, “His blackmailing started when Manohar Parrikar was unwell. When the blackmailing for Forest Ministry did not work, he also offered to remove his Goa Forward ministers. His blackmailing continued even after Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant took charge and was ultimately removed from the government. He is NDA member till now and he speaks against the MLAs of the BJP.”
South Goa BJP President Tulsidas Naik said, “Vijai had done setting everywhere and he was raping Goa, finishing the forests and fields. He shouldn’t advise us on what we should do.”
Meanwhile, countering the BJP, Goa Forward Party Vice President Durgadas Kamat said, “We will not take the statement of the BJP president lying down. Former MLA Kiran Kandolkar had got into a fight with Subhash Faldesai in Goa Niwas in Delhi because of his loose statements.”
“If they (BJP) speak against Vijai Sardesai their market value increases and they get some reward in the form of ticket or some position. We advise the BJP president not to use such words as it doesn’t suit your post,” Kamat said.
“The BJP should first send their leaders to learn public speaking and also advice Subhash to stop speaking after 9 pm,” he advised.
