BJP spokesperson Vishnu Surya Wagh briefed the press that Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, who is holding the Town and Country Planning portfolio, heard the grievance of all the party MLAs.
“All the elected representatives of the BJP had put forth the grievances of their respective constituencies before the minister so that formation regional plan can be expedited,” Wagh said.
D’Souza informed that a subcommittee, consisting himself, the chief minister, Ganesh Gaonkar, Carlos Almeida, Subhash Faldesai and Sidhharth Kunkolienkar, has been formed to examine the views of the party MLAs on the Regional Plan. The subcommittee would meet on May 10, he added.
BJP has been facing tough time on the issue of Regional Plan in Goa as it was also one of the major promises made by BJP in 2012 manifesto.
On conducting municipal elections on party line, Wagh said that the party has not come to a conclusion so far on the same. However, BJP sources say that after a bitter experience in the zilla polls, most of the MLAs are opposed to holding the municipal election on party lines.
Wagh informed that the party has not taken any decision on holding municipal elections on party lines, but it discussed the preparation for the same.
Except Ponda and Sanquelim municipalities, the terms of municipal councils are ending in October.
Incidentally, MLA Michael Lobo, Speaker Rajendra Arlekar and Deputy Speaker Anant Shet were conspicuous by their absence at the meeting.
Meanwhile, Parrikar would announce some new central schemes on May 9 in Panjim.
