PONDA: Deepa Naik defeated Sudhir Raut by 38 votes to win the by-election to Ward 9 of Curti-Khandepar Panchayat on Monday.

More significantly, the by-election has brought to the fore the rumblings within the MGP and the BJP-MGP coalition in Ponda.
