PANJIM: Even though BJP managed to get thumping victory under Pramod Sawant’s leadership, the winning party will elect its legislative leader, on Friday.
The BJP with the support of MGP and three Independents will be meeting Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai to stake claim for forming the government on Friday.
“There is a protocol in the BJP that our Central Parliamentary Board holds meetings after the election results. We had a Central observer for overseeing the election procedures in the poll-bound State including Goa… thereafter legislature party meeting will be held,” BJP Goa Desk In-Charge Devendra Fadnavis said while addressing the media at a resort after the poll results.
Accompanied by Central observers and winning candidates, Fadnavis said, “The party will not rush to stake claim as they are in majority.”
“We believe in our candidates unlike Congress that locked their candidates in a hotel prior to the results, so that they don’t defect. We know our leaders won’t do that. We have got majority so no need to rush,” he said.
The party leaders claimed that the double engine sarkar led to its victory as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Modern Goa is accepted by the people. “We believe in developmental works and hold national interest,” he said.
