VALPOI: Senior BJP worker Adv Ganpat Gaonkar from Poriem constituency on Monday filed his nomination as Independent for the Honda Zilla Panchayat seat at the Deputy Collector’s office in the presence of supporters. He is contesting against BJP’s Sagun Wadkar, who filed his nomination a few days ago.
A former Congress member for several decades, Wadkar is very close to Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane.

Senior BJP workers in the taluka are upset with the Valpoi MLA and are now filing the nomination forms for ZP polls against Rane’s panel.
“I am a senior BJP worker for the last 15 years. Since the past decade, I have been trying my best to solve the land issue,” said Adv Ganpat Gaonkar.
Gaonkar said he had already informed the party that he is much interested in contesting the ZP polls and accused the party of neglecting him. I wanted to bring about a political revolution in Sattari and that’s the reason why I have filed the nomination form for the polls for the Honda seat. I am getting very good support from Sattari locals. And I will defeat the Rane’s candidate in Honda by a huge margin.”
