PANJIM: The reconstituted bench of Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) headed by retired Justice UV Bakre, on Monday, commenced the rehearing of the alleged food scam at 2016 BRICS Summit.
While directing the Bicholim-based Amoncar Classic Caterers to file their reply, the GHRC adjourned the matter to March 6.

The High Court of Bombay at Goa had last month directed the Commission to rehear the matter by giving a hearing to Amoncar Classic Caterers, which had moved the court arguing it was not heard by the GHRC.
In its final order, the GHRC on April 30, 2019, had directed the Director General of Police to impose appropriate penalty on Amoncar Classic Caterers and had pointed to Article 21 of the Constitution of India that provides every individual the right to life including the right to live with decency and human dignity. On account of alleged unhygienic food supplied to the police personnel during the 2016 Summit, there was a clear infringement of Article 21 thus violating the basic human rights of the police personnel to live with decency and human dignity.
The government had last week appointed Bakre to the chair along with clearing the file appointing retired district judges Desmond D’Costa and Pramod Kamat as its members.
