PANJIM: For the very first time, the Goa Board has decided to maintain the database of question-wise marks obtained by Class X students, in addition to aggregate marks, which will help the schools assess the performance per chapter and to remedy the common weak points for the new students.
While this year, the database of marks obtained by Class X students would be maintained, from the coming academic year onwards, students from Class XII will be also roped in.

Nearly 19,121 students answered Class X Board examination held in May. The results are likely to be announced this weekend.
Speaking to Herald, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), Secretary Bhagirath Shetye explained that from this year, they will maintain the database of question-wise marks obtained by each Class X students for Mathematics, Science and English in addition to their aggregate mark.
“All this while, we were maintaining only the aggregate marks obtained by the students. Though, we had marks on the answer sheets, we never maintained a database or breakup of the marks,” he explained.
“The move is basically aimed towards assessing the performance of the students’ per chapter and to remedy the common weak points,” Shetye said.
He added further, “For example, we will get a clear idea as to how many percentage of students have performed well in English Grammar or are weak in grammar…this will help us to lay more focus on grammar for the new students.”
The then Director Education Vandana Rao (while speaking on this before her recent transfer) said the aim is to see that more and more students clear Class X exams with better marks in all subjects.
She added that from the coming academic year onwards, Class XII students’ database will also be maintained.
Around 92.47% of the students had cleared Class X Board examination in 2019; which was a record highest.
