PANJIM: The newly-appointed Director of Education Santosh Amonkar stated that the Education Department is trying to release the salaries to aided schools with partial delay.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) found itself in the middle of a controversy over its circular directing school managements to disburse the salary of their respective staff members for the current month from their own funds. The circular was however withdrawn post the uproar by schools and opposition parties.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant intervened in the matter and directed withdrawal of the circular. Amonkar said that the department is trying to release the salaries to aided schools on time; however, he added that there could be a delay since the administration staff is placed under home quarantine.
Amonkar recently replaced IAS Vandana Rao, who has been transferred as Additional Collector North.
Amonkar further added that the government is examining the demand made by the teachers to allow them to work from home, as per the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD).
As per MHRD, teachers should be allowed to work from home till July 31; until further orders. However, in Goa, teaching and non-teaching staff was directed to resume duty from June 25.
