Borim gram sabha demands widening of road from Bythokhol to Sakhwar

Adopts resolution demanding govt to accept CZMP prepared by villagers

PONDA: The Borim gram sabha on Sunday urged the government to widen the road between Bythokhol and Sakhwar urgently and accept the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) prepared by the villagers.
At the meeting, chaired by Sarpanch Bhavna Naik, the villagers complained that they are facing hardship due to traffic congestion on the national highway passing through their village.
To overcome the traffic congestion on the one-and-half kilometre long stretch between Bythokhol and Sakhwar, the villagers adopted a resolution for widening the same.
At the meeting, the villagers also demanded that PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar pay a visit to Borim village at the earliest and conduct inspection of the main village road.
According to the villagers, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has acquired land for widening Bythokhol-Sakhwar Road. The acquisition was done long ago and even the compensation has been paid to the locals whose land was acquired for road widening.
The locals now demand that NHAI should issue tender for the road widening work immediately.
They also informed the gram sabha that the locals, whose land was acquired for widening the road between Top Cola and Bethora, have not yet been paid their compensation amounting to Rs 7 crore.
The locals said that the PWD should immediately pay the compensation to the local whose lands have been acquired.
The villagers also demanded that the internal road passing from Miring, behind the Navdurga Temple, should be widened so that at the time of traffic congestion on the main road, it can be utilised for traffic diversion.
The Locals also adopted a resolution that the CZMP prepared by the villagers should be accepted by Government to protect interest of villagers.
The locals also adopted a resolution demanding action against illegal constructions in the village.
Meanwhile, the Borim panchayat has declared the village as plastic free and also banned single use plastic. The Borim Panchayat has also decided to meet all the shop owners in panchayat area to instruct them not to sell goods in plastic.
