Boy killed, 6 hurt in mishap

A 6-year-old boy from Dattagad-Bethora died while six others were injured in a road mishap about 15 kms from the Mollem check post along the Panjim-Belgaum highway on Saturday evening.
According to Collem PI Manoj Mardolkar, the incident took place when a family, consisting of two men, four women and the deceased, Sarfroz Khan were traveling in a jeep (GA-09-A-2663) from Belgaum to Ponda.
At about 6 pm, the jeep reached Anmod ghat when one tyre got punctured and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The jeep went off the road and turned turtle, injuring all occupants in the vehicle.
Collem police rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the ID hospital at Ponda. Sarfroz was, however, declared dead on arrival. Collem police is investigating the case.
