PANJIM:  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Tuesday gave a call to boycott and ban the sale and use of Chinese products in the State, as well as in India.

Addressing the media persons, he highlighted the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government as it completed one year (in its second term). Tanavade urged the people to endorse locally made products and to support the nation’s call for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

“We need to ban use and sale of Chinese products. Such things cannot be done overnight but we will succeed in the long run. It will take time but we need to start it now,” he said.

Tanavade also said that party workers and officials have been directed henceforth to address the media wearing India-made “swadeshi” clothes only.

Accusing China of unnecessary provocation along the borders, Tanavade said, that anger against China had even irked young children in the country.

“Even children in India are angry with China over COVID. A father recently told me that his son had requested him not to buy Chinese products henceforth,” he added.

He said that despite no reaction, China is involved in provocations but the Prime Minister has handled the situation adequately.

Elaborating further about the Modi-led government’s second term, he said that the year has been full of accomplishments and bold decisions.

“Modi government’s approach towards every issue has been bold and holistic. We have accomplished such things, which we would not even think of in our wildest dreams,” he said.

Tanavade listed the abrogation of Article 370, changing of citizenship law, strengthening of anti-terror laws, bank mergers, Ayodhya case, amongst the significant successes of the government.
