Chicalim: “Bye, take care!” These were the final words that Mickky Pacheco said to his close aide, Lyndon Monteiro at Cottage Hospital, Chicalim before leaving to Sada sub-jail in Mormugao on Monday. He was brought for a medical check-up in a convoy of two police escort jeeps by PI Ram Asre and eight constables at around 7.20 pm. Dr Sarika Verekar conducted the medical examination after which he was escorted to the jail which he reached at around 7.50pm.
While Pacheco was getting examined by the doctor, a supporter who was following him brought a bottle of water and handed over the same to the escort police. However, a tensed Pacheco didn’t touch the bottle and left the hospital with the escort police.
“He was examined by the doctors in the casualty section and his vital signs were found to be normal,” said a source at Cottage Hospital.
According to sources at Sada sub-jail, Pacheco is lodged at cell number 14 where he was lodged earlier. Interestingly, former editor-in-chief of Tehelka magazine, Tarun Tejpal was also lodged in the same cell.
